Over the course of a month, I stand in Berghain’s long queue twelve times, each time as a new persona, a new version of myself. I experiment with style, attitude and identity, and then see whether I am let in or not. The project explores questions of identity, social rules and desire in a time that claims to celebrate individuality, but where the key to access often turns out to be conformity.

What does it take to get into Berghain, the world’s most mythologized club, known for its unpredictable and selective door policy? And why is the need to be accepted in an excluding environment so strong that it can become addictive?
